Rioting Kenyatta University students seriously injured a KBC television news cameraman and several other people on Monday.
The students who were demanding the revival of their Association attacked motorists along Thika Highway with stones, paralysing operations on the busy highway.
The students attacked anyone on site as they lit bonfires on the road.
Anti-riot police officers led by Kasarani OCPD Simon Kipkeu had to use teargas canisters to disperse rowdy students.
The students attacked journalists seriously injuring the KBC cameraman who was rushed to Aga Khan hospital with a deep cut on his forehead.
Following the attack, the Kenyatta University senate led by the Vice Chancellor George Eshiwami condemned the unwarranted hooliganism especially to the press saying the institution was a free place for free exchange of ideas.
